Heaven’s Books

Here are a few books that are mentioned in the Bible.  God is a bibliophile obviously.  The first two are the main ones that most Christians are familiar with.

1) The Lamb’s Book of Life

All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:8

But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.” Revelation 21:27

This book is filled with the names of all who are in Jesus Christ the Lamb of God, those who inherit the New Jerusalem.

2) The Books of Deeds or Works

And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.” Revelation 20:12

The dead are here judged according to their deeds before being cast into the lake of fire (the second death). Notice that “books” are opened and then the Book of Life.

3) The Book of Tears

“You number my wanderings;
Put my tears into Your bottle;
Are they not in Your book? Psalm 56:8

He keeps a record of every tear we shed.

4)  The Book of Remembrance or Words

“Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another,
And the Lord listened and heard them;
So a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who meditate on His name.

“They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts,
“On the day that I make them My jewels.
And I will spare them
As a man spares his own son who serves him.” Malachi 3:16,17

The words of the righteous recorded !

5) The Book of Our Formation

“Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.” Psalm 139:16

The first eternal record of Life.
